THE GRID’s solution |
- You can’t rely on everyone making normal picks.
- THE GRID starts with pick projections aggregated from several expert sources. The random pick algorithm makes controlled picks, that start to deviate more and more from the expected the deeper into the draft, simulating a group of drafters using various sources (magazines, internet sites, etc.)
- Players don’t make picks on time. You have to sit and wait for the clock to run out and then you know exactly what pick is coming. Eventually half the draft is making auto-picks.
- THE GRID makes any number of random picks in seconds. Say you have the 7th pick out of 10. Tell THE GRID to make 6 random picks. Then make your pick, and have THE GRID make 5 more, and so on. You’ll have a complete mock draft done in 5 minutes.
- You have to conform to fixed times on a mock site, and hope the room fills up at the time you prefer
- THE GRID is always on. You don’t even need internet access to run a meaningful mock draft any hour of the day.
- You can’t choose your draft slot. If you know your slot already, you’ll either waste your time, or constantly duck in and out of draft rooms, until you randomly get your slot. With everyone doing this it’s no wonder you can’t find a good live mock!
- You specify your draft slot every time in THE GRID. Even get practice drafting two teams at once! Every once in awhile you end up having to do this for a buddy who can’t make the draft. It would be nice to get some practice at it to know how you might serve both your strategies.
- Mock sites will present the final draft at the end, and most will even email you the results, but you can’t easily analyze multiple mock draft results.
- After each mock draft, THE GRID allows you to easily track the flow of the draft, and see each team’s roster, all in the same screen. Plus, you have the incredible analytical power of Excel. For example, you can: 1) Save each mock in its own tab 2) Start a new sheet tracking by what round you got your starting RBs, by each draft slot, and what grade you gave yourself, 3) Build a chart showing how imperative it is to get RBs early for each slot. Do all this in less than the time it takes to find one legitimate online mock.
- Even a "good" mock draft is just one repetition, there’s no guarantee your live draft will unfold anything like that.
- Since you can complete a mock draft in 5 minutes, go ahead and do as many as you like. Eventually patterns will start to jump out, and that will be invaluable to know during your live draft.
